  • FREEDOM

Freedom goes beyound doing what one feels like doing, that is liberty to do what one feels like doing. Freedom has many faces, in my words freedom means respect for my dignity and I in turn respecting other people's dignity.

Free will is the basis of human freedom, the ability to choose between good and evil. Freedom needs to be exercised within the limits of the common good and this means the choice of good over evil. With the choice of good freedom attains its proper perfection.

Freedom enables us develop our full potential as human beings. That is freedom is inseparable from human dignity from which we derive our human rights. In exercising freedom one has to respect the rights of others because freedom makes us responsible for our actions. We share the world with many people so what we do in our lives affects the lives of people around us and what other people do affects our lives. So in exercising our freedom we must therefore not harm others by our actions or words or the choices we make. Our good is linked to the good of others so when our actions prevent others from meeting their needs then we harm them and at the same time harm ourselves since our good depends on them.

Freedom and responsibility are interdependent, each of us has rights and obligations and that is why freedom can never be exercised without limits. Thus the more freedom we enjoy the greater the responsibility we bear towards others as well as ourselves. If one person or government seeks to maximise freedom but does it at the expense of others, a larger number of people will suffer. And if human beings maximise their freedom by plundering the natural resources of the country then the future generations will suffer. We must therefore move away from freedom of indifference towards the freedom of excellence.

Freedom in its proper perfection allows one to flourish and live a fully genuinely human life. Freedom, doing things for our own good and for the good of others. Our choices and actions must enable us and others in our community.

Freedom make us responsible for everyone in the community.

  • Ability in disability

I could not explain how I felt when I watched disable children display their talents yesterday evening. For me it was a time for me to reflect on how well I utilise my talents. Indeed there is no greater love than the love experienced in the gift of oneself for the happiness of others. It was an interesting evening for me & and I will do all my best to put smiles on the faces of those I come across no matter what.
    For a Culture of Life.
